Hey Vixen Dolls! I am back with another blog post! This week we are discussing how to properly care for your lace. As you may have seen on my Instagram, (@vixendollhair if you're new here!) South Korea has closed its borders which means no lace for closures, frontals, and wigs are being produced.
Soooo, what are we supposed to do?? š©
Because vendors in China do not have access to lace, supply and demand has caused prices to rise for wholesale lace fronts. Prices have risen for lace front pieces and lace front wigs. So if you are in the market for a new wig or want to get your first wig, prices will be higher than what you'd usually expect or predicted.
As promised, I am here to help you get through this lace crisis. š
For those of you with sew-ins and and wigs, hold on to your lace girl!!!
Now is not the time to be throwing lace away!!
- Unless it's balding or shedding/matting badly, see if you can reuse it. Feel free to send me a pic and we'll see if it can be saved!
- P.S. I do revamp wigs and fix rips/balding frontals. Book a FREE wig revamp consultation here (COMING SOON!)
Most of these tips are just an extension of last week's post, but focused more on lace.
Here are lace care tips:
1. Do not itch your lace or do any type of rough movement on it!! For any itching, use a rat tail comb or pat that weave sis! Itching causes strands on the lace to fall out, causing balding.
2. Use your satin scarf, bonnet, and satin pillowcase at night to maintain edges and cause less friction on your hairline.
3. Detangle your hair properly.
Pop Quiz! Who remembers the right way to detangle your hair?
A. Start from root to ends working out tangles with a rat tail or regular comb.
B. Start from ends to root working out tangles with a wide tooth comb or denman brush. I wet it and apply conditioner/product if it is too hard to do dry.
C. Finger comb your hair out in the shower with conditioner.
D. Detangling hair is bad for your frontal!
**the right answer is at the end of this post!
4. Give that lace a break! Do not rock your install till thy kingdom come. I've noticed that wearing the same wig everyday for an extended period of time makes it more prone to shedding and balding especially where your part is. This comes from frequent manipulation like combing, styling, washing, etc.
I do advise you to e-use your good lace, but switch up your hairstyles!
5. Don't put heat too close to your lace!! This could be with a blow dryer, flat iron, or pressing comb! If heat is placed directly on the lace for a split second too long, it will melt/rip!
- This is a tip I learned from personal experience that is not commonly talked about!!
6. If you're ever uncertain about a product or technique you may have heard or seen , please consult a credible wig expert to avoid ruining your investment.
