Hey Vixen Dolls!
Thank you for tuning into my very first blog post! šš¾āāļø
If you're reading this you're probably curious to know the difference between the two most common types of lace fronts: a lace closure and a lace frontal. Closures and frontals are perfect for achieving a full protective style. Whether you're new to wearing hair extensions or you're used to wearing a traditional sew-in or u-part wigs, keep reading to learn more!
What is a lace closure?
A lace closure is perfect for people who are new to lace fronts. They are the easiest to maintain, which is the perfect place to start if you are a beginner.
Closures will give you a natural scalp look with the ability to do middle and side parts. They require less maintenance than a frontal. The standard size closure is 4x4.
Usually with a closure, 3 bundles are required to create a full look. Closures are typically sewn down or will have a band attached for a glue-less, removable wig.
If you have experience wearing closures but don't want a frontal, you can also explore 5x5, 6x6, and 7x7 closures!

Pros:
- Perfect for those new to wearing wigs
- Less maintenance than a frontal
- Comes in different sizes
- Cost effective choice compared to a frontal
Cons:
- Less versatility than a frontal
What is a lace frontal?
A lace frontal is ideal for those who have experience with lace fronts. They go from ear to ear which covers your whole hairline.
You can achieve hairstyles like half up half down with a frontal. Because of this, they require more maintenance than a closure. Lace frontals come in two different sizes: 13x4 and 13x6.
Frontals usually cost more than closures because they are bigger, but you can get away with using 2-2.5 bundles for installation if your bundles are 16 inches or shorter. Frontals can be either glued down or will have a band attached for a glue-less, removable wig.
Pros:
- More versatility in hairstyles
- Great for those that have experience wearing wigs
- Great for those with thinning hairlines/edges to cover the hairline
Cons:
- More maintenance than a closure
- Cost more than closures
- Can cause damage to healthy edges if they are not glued down properly

There are also 360 lace frontals. 360 frontals are similar to regular lace frontals, except they cover the perimeter of your hairline. These are ideal and recommended for people who have experience wearing frontals. You can wear 360 frontals in hairstyles like high ponytails and buns. They are more expensive than closures and standard frontals. 360 frontals usually are glued down.

Pros:
-The most versatility with a lace front
Cons:
- More maintenance
- Most expensive option
So.. What Should I Pick?
Overall, both closures and frontals are great for achieving a full protective style. They can be used for sew-ins or wigs! I recommend to all of my clients to utilize a closure or lace front to keep their leave out healthy.
If you are a beginner or need a simple, cost effective lace front to enhance your look, I would recommend a closure.
If you have prior experience with closures, want versatility in styling, and don't mind spending a little extra coin, I would definitely suggest getting a frontal.
